$40.00 - $55.00 per hour (Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience.)

The Shop Lead assists and develops technicians in all phases of troubleshooting and repair of equipment in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team” and serves as the main contact between the shop personnel and Technical Services Department concerning problems that arise during the repair of the equipment. The shop lead also leads and develops technicians in their area.
EssentialFunctions
- Ensures work orders are complete, service reports are filled out correctly, and all parts are returned before jobs are turned in
- Coordinates with other shops on repair of different components
- Maintains a safe and productive working environment in the shop
- Communicates regularly with the Shop Manager and Service Writer on status and problems of equipment in the shop
- Collaborates with the Service Writer to resolve scheduling conflicts
- Ensures effective communication between customers and the Service Writer
- Assists, supervises, and trains technicians in troubleshooting and repairing equipment
- Works with the Inspector to report discrepancies between customer‑requested repairs and those found during incoming inspections (where applicable)
- Ensures the shop is kept clean, organized, safe, and accountable for technician safety in the assigned area
- Assists in estimating repairs or reconditions
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Assists in scheduling technicians
- Fills in for the Shop Manager or Service Writer in their absence when necessary
- Provides information and feedback for performance reviews and may participate in review meetings
- Prepares first drafts of technician reviews for management approval
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and repair of Caterpillar heavy equipment
- 3+ years of administrative/clerical experience
- 3+ years of customer service experience
- Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, etc.
- Heavy work including lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
- Data entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
- Safety & Product Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Intermediate knowledge of DMS and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW
