Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Role Purpose
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of BYLDPro production equipment, facility infrastructure, and connected manufacturing systems, including the BYLDPortal and SMART BYLDPro-enabled workflows.
In addition to traditional mechanical and electrical maintenance, this role provides Level 1 (site-level) troubleshooting for machine-connected software, sensors, and system interfaces to keep production running and minimize downtime.
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical first-response role in BYLDPro’s SMART facility operating model, escalating issues appropriately to enterprise and BYLDTech teams when required.
Core Responsibilities1. Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, tools, and facility systems.
- Execute maintenance tasks according to enterprise PM standards and schedules.
- Identify early signs of equipment degradation or instability and escalate proactively.
- Support reliability-driven improvements to reduce recurring failures.
- Provide Level 1 troubleshooting for issues related to:
- Machine connectivity
- Sensors, scanners, and shop-floor terminals
- BYLDPortal interactions at the machine or operator level
- Perform basic system checks and resets (within defined authorization).
- Verify machine status, alarms, and data flow before escalation.
- Work with operators to restore production quickly and safely.
This role does not own software development or system configuration, but must be capable of identifying whether an issue is mechanical, electrical, or system-related.
3. Troubleshooting & Repair (Mechanical / Electrical / Systems Interface)- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues that may involve:
- PLC-controlled machinery
- Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)
- Machine-to-system communication
- Restore equipment to operational condition and validate proper system feedback.
The Maintenance Technician operates within BYLDPro’s three-level support model:
- Level 1 – Site / Regional (This Role)
- Initial diagnosis
- Basic troubleshooting
- Mechanical / electrical fixes
- System checks and resets
- Level 2 – Enterprise (BYLDPro)
- Escalation to Director of Maintenance & Reliability
- Escalation to Head of OT & Manufacturing Systems
- Advanced diagnostics and system coordination
- Level 3 – BYLD Technology (Poland)
- Software defects
- Portal logic issues
- Core system or integration problems
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for clear, structured escalation, including accurate problem description and supporting information.
5. Preventive Maintenance & Documentation- Execute PM tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain clear and accurate maintenance and incident logs.
- Document system-related issues, symptoms, and resolution steps.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
- Assist in managing spare parts inventory, including critical spares.
- Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and system access devices.
- Ensure shop-floor terminals and related hardware are operational.
- Follow all BYLD safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Strict adherence to Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Participate in safety training and incident investigations.
- Support operator training on:
- Basic equipment care
- First-level system awareness
- Share lessons learned related to equipment and system issues.
- Participate in reliability, CI, and SMART BYLDPro initiatives.
- Software development or system configuration.
- ERP / BYLDPortal architecture.
- Maintenance strategy or budgeting.
- Vendor contract ownership.
This role executes maintenance and first-level system support; enterprise teams own design and advanced troubleshooting.
