The Automotive Technician will have a strong background in automotive service and repair, with an emphasis on working on diesel vehicles and familiarity with buses. The role involves diagnosing and fixing vehicle issues, completing routine maintenance services, and ensuring all repairs meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Essential Functions- Identify mechanical problems, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Test parts and systems to ensure they are working properly.
- Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined.
- Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, giving tune‑ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires.
- Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads and wheel bearings.
- Disassemble and reassemble parts.
- Use testing equipment to ensure repairs and maintenance are effective.
- Perform road test upon completion of repairs.
- Demonstrate sense of urgency.
- Apply problem‑solving skills.

- Potential exposure to hazardous situations, cuts, bruises, or minor burns.
- Work inside enclosed vehicles such as buses and vans; may require awkward positions.
- Regularly wear protective gear such as goggles or earplugs.
- Exposure to contaminants such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers daily.
- Exposure to noise levels that can be distracting or uncomfortable.
- Potential exposure to inadequate lighting conditions.
- May work in cold or hot temperatures depending on location.
- Share space with others in a garage setting.
- Perform standing, walking, sitting, using hands and arms, climbing stairs, talking, hearing, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1‑5 years of mechanical experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- CDL preferred or obtainable within 6 months.
