E-Commerce ETL Test Engineer​/App Training Specialist

About the Role

Tyto Athene is searching for a versatile and detail-oriented professional to fill a unique hybrid role as an E-Commerce ETL Test Engineer and Application Training Specialist. In this position, you will be responsible for two critical functions: first, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our e-commerce data pipelines through rigorous testing of ETL processes built with AWS Glue. Second, you will act as a subject matter expert, developing and delivering training programs to empower our business users to effectively utilize our data-driven applications.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is equally comfortable writing complex SQL queries and leading a training session.

• ETL Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to validate ETL processes and data transformations.
  • Perform rigorous testing of ETL jobs developed in AWS Glue, ensuring data is accurately extracted, transformed, and loaded.
  • Write and execute complex SQL queries to compare source and target data, identify discrepancies, and verify business logic.
  • Identify, document, and track defects to resolution, working closely with the data engineering team.
  • Conduct end-to-end testing of data flows from the e-commerce platform into our data warehouse and data marts.
  • Champion data quality best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Application Training & Support
  • Design and create a variety of training materials, including user manuals, quick-start guides, presentations, and video tutorials for our e-commerce applications.
  • Deliver engaging and effective training sessions to both technical and non-technical audiences, in-person and virtually.
  • Translate complex data concepts and application features into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand information for business users.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for application-related questions and provide ongoing support to end-users.
  • Gather feedback from users to help improve application usability and future training programs.

• Required:
  • Experience:
    
    3‑5+ years of experience in a data-focused role, such as ETL testing, data quality assurance, or business intelligence.
  • ETL Testing:
    Proven experience in testing data warehouses and ETL pipelines.
  • AWS Glue:
    Hands‑on experience testing and validating ETL jobs and workflows within AWS Glue.
  • SQL Proficiency:
    Expert-level SQL skills for writing complex queries, joins, and data validation scripts.
  • Experience with Smoke testing, regression testing, load testing, interface testing, black-box testing.
  • Training
    
    Experience:
    
    Demonstrable experience in developing training materials and/or delivering technical training to end-users.
  • Communication:
    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • E‑Commerce Domain:
    Understanding of common e‑commerce data concepts (e.g., sales, customers, products, inventory).
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain public trust/T3 clearance.
• Desired:
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Experience with other AWS data services like Amazon S3, Redshift, or Athena.
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks for data validation.
  • Background in instructional design or corporate training.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Waterfall development.
  • Education requirement or 8140 Certification.

• Public Trust/T3 preferred or able to obtain a DoD clearance.

• Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $120,000-$140,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
