Overview
The Epidemiologist (Generalist) promotes individual and population health by supporting epidemiological activities and initiatives for the Department.
Responsibilities include:
performing applied epidemiology by collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating epidemiological data relevant to population health in Kane County; designing and/or implementing public health surveillance systems and all related activities; and working closely with the Department's Planner in developing and implementing community health assessment and planning cycles in collaboration with Department staff, staff in other Kane County Departments, community stakeholders, elected officials, and community partners.
Includes the responsibilities described above and ongoing collaboration to support population health initiatives and public health planning.
Requirements- Master s Degree in Science or in Public Health with a focus in epidemiology.
- One (1) year of professional epidemiology experience.
- Three (3) years of public health experience preferred.
- Valid Illinois driver s license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 700.a certification.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400 certification within four (4) months of employment.

Salary is based on experience, qualifications and certifications
