Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking PRN Crisis Triage Specialists (CTS) to join our dedicated Crisis Services team. This is a great opportunity for professionals looking to pick up full 10-hour shifts on an as-needed basis. CTS team members play a vital role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment at our 24/7 Walk-In Crisis Clinic (WIC), conducting brief assessments (including CSSRS and Safe-T), supporting client placement into appropriate levels of care, and providing referrals and resources.

This role is ideal for someone with strong crisis response skills, a calm and compassionate demeanor, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.

Schedule

This position is fully Onsite/In-person. Available schedules are:

  • Day: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Overnight: 9:00 pm - 7:00 am
  • Swing Shift: 1:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Training & Orientation Availability

This PRN role requires availability to complete initial in-person training and orientation, including a full-day orientation (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) on the Tuesday of the scheduled orientation week, followed by in-person training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday (9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.) that cover clinical documentation and Smart Care. In addition, new hires will complete up to eight (8) paid training shifts within the first two months, scheduled based on operational needs, with reasonable consideration given to individual availability.

  • Day Weekend (Sat, Sun): $1.50/hour
  • Swing Weekday (Mon-Thurs): $1.50/hour
  • Swing Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun): $2.75/hour
  • Overnight Weekday (Monday - Thursday): $2.75/hour
  • Overnight Weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sunday): $4.00/hour
Salary for this role

The starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.

  • $22.04 - $33.07
Essential Functions
  • Act as the first clinical contact for walk-in clients. Greet client and support completion of initial paperwork.
  • Assess the client using the CSSRS Safe-T criteria. Ask brief evaluation questions and consult with the Crisis Therapist for next steps.
  • In instances when the client qualifies for a full crisis assessment evaluation by the Crisis Therapist, provide referrals and/or resources, or assist in placement to the CSU or to other higher level of care options.
  • In instances when the client does not qualify for a full evaluation by the Crisis Therapist, the CTS will complete the client’s treatment at the WIC by providing referrals and/or resources to client.
  • Maintain the flow and response to faxed in referrals from other community partners, including gathering faxed in referrals, passing referrals to available Crisis Therapists for timely review, and, when appropriate, responding to the outside partner for feedback after a determination of placement.
  • Monitor activity of all clients in the WIC, maintaining the calm atmosphere of the waiting area.
  • Develop and maintain a daily safe therapeutic environment and support other team members in the WIC.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely and comprehensive manner to establish accurate acute care clinical records. Keep all appropriate documentation for clinical accountability and reimbursement.
  • Engage in weekly individual, team, and group supervision as required by program manager. Engage in mandatory all-staff meetings for the full team of crisis services as required by the program manager.
  • Assist in immediate clinical response to clients including de-escalation, connection to medical help, and providing comfort items such as snacks, water, blankets, etc.
  • Participate in other clinical and administrative activities as appropriate.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral healthcare, human services, social work, or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience with community-based services and supports in the service area is required.
  • Previous experience working in office-based settings with vulnerable populations of diverse cultures and ethnicities.
