Job Overview

The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families in Outpatient, Inpatient or Emergency Department settings.

The Creative Arts Therapist Behavioral Health Clinician (CAT BHC) features a master's in art therapy, drama therapy or expressive arts therapy focused on the mental health population.

  • Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient safety through assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of creative arts therapy interventions.
  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team in the Pediatric Mental Health Institute, specifically within the Ponzio Creative Arts Therapy Program and the Integrative & Creative Care Division.
  • Provide services in both inpatient and outpatient settings, offering individual, group, and multi-family creative arts therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and maintain communication with unit or department leadership.
Duties & Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

Neonate – 30 days to 1yr

Toddlers – >1yr to 3yrs

Pre‑Schoolers – >3yrs to 5yrs

School age – >5yrs to 13yrs

Adolescent – >13yrs to 18yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents by developing and implementing treatment and intervention plans and conducting needs assessment to gather patient information.
  • Provides crisis intervention to families and provides interventions with families to support discharge to home and stabilization. Also develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families to assist with psychological problems.
  • Completes diagnostic behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention. Compiles and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety and serves as a liaison with multidisciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals. Presents case presentations and provides consultation to medical teams and callers.
  • Coordinates admissions to programs within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute or community programs and coordinates treatment with internal and external services.
  • Leads, monitors, evaluates, and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups for patients; participates in clinical rounds and maintains communication with unit or department leadership.
  • Attends educational in‑services for Behavioral Health Clinicians.
  • Participates in unit committees and educational offerings; complies with all policies and procedures related to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the hospital; and provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees: Master’s Degree
  • Area of Study: Psychology, social work or related field.
  • Experience: 2 years in a mental health setting/agency
  • Licenses &

    Certifications:

    American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or ASHI Basic Life Support for Health Providers;
    State of Colorado DORA Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor;
    Credentialing must be completed within 3 months of employment; ATR or ATR‑BC (Art Therapist Registered or Board Certified) by the Art Therapy Credentials Board (AATA) or RDT (Registered Drama Therapist) by the North American Drama Therapy Association and or REAT (Registered Expressive Arts Therapist) by the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association preferred.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $68,066.41 to $
