Full‑time (1.00 FTE), benefits‑eligible, clinic‑based behavioral health provider with instructional responsibilities in the College of Nursing’s Non‑Tenure Clinical Practice Track.

Job Summary

The College of Nursing seeks a full‑time, clinic‑based Behavioral Health Provider to work within Sheridan Health Services, a federally qualified community health center serving residents of Arapahoe, Denver, and Jefferson counties. The role includes direct patient care, interdisciplinary teamwork, and educational responsibilities for nursing students.

Responsibilities
  • Provide brief behavioral health therapy and screenings in an integrated medical setting for patients ages 0‑99.
  • Deliver general outpatient behavioral health treatment via individual therapy, care coordination, crisis management, skill building, and psycho‑education.
  • Offer couples and/or family therapy as appropriately qualified.
  • Conduct therapy and integrated care screenings virtually via telehealth per patient and clinic staffing needs.
  • Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams (medical, psychiatry, dental, pharmacy, patient navigation, health education, and other BHPs) to deliver behavioral health services.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, school personnel, family members, patient navigators, and other community partners.
  • Assess crisis situations and take appropriate action to ensure client and clinic safety.
  • Utilize best practices within appropriate professional limits.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service, communication, and professionalism with clinic users, co‑workers, and external agencies.
  • Attend scheduled behavioral health team meetings, interdisciplinary work groups, monthly staff meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Complete accurate, timely clinical and administrative documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Manage financial and clinical information required for reimbursement of services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Behavioral Health Program Director or Executive Director.
  • Work onsite at the Denver location.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a closely related field.
  • For Licensed candidates:
    Current licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Counselor (or equivalent) in good standing and, if required, Colorado license by hire.
  • For Unlicensed candidates:
    Master’s degree as above; may work toward Colorado licensure during the application process.
  • Demonstrated leadership in behavioral health practice.
  • Experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills at a conversational level for daily clinical use.
  • Experience with population‑based outcomes and integrating social‑justice perspectives.
  • Experience with trauma‑informed, prevention, and early‑intervention approaches, including co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience conducting therapy via telehealth/virtual platforms.
  • Experience utilizing language interpreters in behavioral health or medical settings.
  • Current licensure as Certified Addictions Specialist or Licensed Addictions Counselor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Willingness and ability to obtain Colorado licenses, valid NPI number, CAQH profile, BLS/CPR certification, and maintain credentialing with health plans.
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment with biological hazard exposure.
