The position supports the Family Matters program, a NIH-funded study, on a large-scale longitudinal cohort involving over 500 families across Denver, CO and the Twin Cities, MN. Roles include data collection, participant recruitment/retention, and CHW services to improve family meals and home environments.

As a Data Collector: support recruitment and retention; train and conduct mixed-methods data collection (e.g., anthropometry, mHealth, surveys); use Red Cap and other systems to track families and measurement time points; help develop data collection protocols and materials; engage in video-recorded supervision to improve measurement skills.

As a Community Health Worker (CHW): work with CHWs to serve 500+ families with a 6-month intervention (virtual and in-person visits); help families create healthy home environments; use Motivational Interviewing and SMART goal setting; participate in video-recorded supervision; oversee case management via Red Cap; develop program materials and other Family Matters activities.

Examples of Duties:

• 40%:
  Engaging with families in intervention visits and tracking study progress
• Meet with families virtually and in-person to improve family meals
• Engage diverse participants and reduce barriers to healthy meals
• Serve as main contact and follow-up between visits
• Document visit activities and feedback
• Expand knowledge of community resources related to social determinants of health
• Other duties as assigned

10%:
Preparing for intervention visits

• Help create intervention materials, including Spanish translations
• Review materials (e.g., video-recorded meals) and provide feedback
• Regularly check in with families
• Assist in identifying resources (e.g., food assistance)
• Assist in developing and translating materials into Spanish

30%:
Recruitment, Data Collection and Management

• Lead participant retention: outreach, schedule coordination, progress tracking, incentives delivery; manage Red Cap and QA checks; act as point person for questions on the gift card system
• Collect anthropometric and survey data virtually from ACCORDS office
• Collect biological data (anthropometry, hair samples, blood pressure); coordinate blood sample collection

15%:
Study Operations Support

• Attend meetings, training, data entry, support study protocols
• Problem-solve using study data and PM tools
• Adapt materials to changing study needs; ensure meticulous documentation

5%:
Translation

• Translate data collection materials as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Entry Level:

• Bachelor’s degree in any field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bilingual in Spanish/English

Intermediate Level:

• Bachelor’s degree in any field or equivalent
• One year of clinical research or related experience
• Bilingual in Spanish/English

Other Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred qualifications include public health, social work, nutrition, behavioral sciences, or related fields, plus experience with data capture systems, health behavior change work, motivational interviewing, and both in-person and virtual engagement with families; familiarity with diverse populations is valued.
