Bilingual Front Desk Receptionist

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, through the College of Nursing, is seeking a Bilingual Front Desk Receptionist to provide front‑line support at Sheridan Health Services in Denver, CO.

Clinic Description

Clinical Services:
Pediatrics, primary care, obstetrics, dental, behavioral health, and substance use treatment. The Front Desk Receptionist will greet patients, manage appointments, safeguard patient records, and provide bilingual service (Spanish/English) in a diverse community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Desk Operations (60%):
    Warmly welcome and promptly check in patients and visitors; accurately verify and update patient information; manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and direct inquiries; notify staff of patient arrivals; process insurance verifications and authorizations; maintain patient records with HIPAA compliance and confidentiality; upload required documents to patient charts.
  • Administrative Support (20%):
    Address patient billing inquiries and process payments; prepare and distribute correspondence and reports; collect and sort mail; provide accurate clinic service information; handle patient concerns and complaints; coordinate with clinical staff for smooth patient flow; process billing, payments, and copays using EHR software.
  • General Duties (20%):
    Maintain a clean reception area; monitor inventory and request supplies; support implementation of clinic policies; attend team meetings and contribute to improvement initiatives; adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control protocols; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of general clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing support over the phone and in person to diverse groups of customers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience working with public and/or private health insurance plans.
  • Experience using an electronic health record system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective written and oral communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all employees.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer competency with basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules across adult medical, pediatrics, behavioral health, dentistry.
  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality within HIPAA and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude in high‑stress environment.
  • Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to comply with established rules, policies, and procedures to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
  • Must pass a sex offender background check.
  • Must be willing and able to work at alternate Sheridan Health Services clinic locations.
  • Must be willing and able to utilize bilingual skills (Spanish/English) at a conversational level in a clinical setting.
