Job Overview

The Director of Trauma Programs provides system leadership, strategic and operational coordination of the CHCO trauma programs. Working with medical directors, interdisciplinary teams, accreditation agencies, the Director of Trauma Programs is responsible for developing comprehensive plans for trauma services to achieve efficiencies in systems and service delivery through problem solving, continuous improvements, servant leadership, communication, and team building. The position is accountable for developing fiscal and programmatic goals while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and strategies to achieve high quality patient care and services across the continuum of care throughout the enterprise.

This position covers trauma programs for Children's Hospital Colorado's Denver Metro and Southern Colorado regions.
The Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora is a Level I trauma center, and the Colorado Springs hospital is a Level II state designated trauma center.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of responsibilities for trauma care delivery to patients and their families, organizational skills, prioritization, and time management.
  • Develops and directs strategic growth and operational objectives for the trauma programs across the enterprise.
  • Supports and leads process improvement, utilizing benchmarking data to continually achieve higher levels of excellence and cost effectiveness.
  • Directs and oversees all aspects of program development, performance management, personnel activities, trauma finance, and the provision of services. Works to ensure effective physician and staff relations.
  • Oversees program operations. Develops and empowers management to lead daily operations, resolve issues, manage employee performance, manage physician relations, ensure high‑quality patient care and service excellence, and ensure operational efficiencies.
  • Provides overseite and direction of program activities to ensure compliance with trauma regulatory requirements.
  • Provides provision of support and alignment of trauma registry, performance improvement, and patient safety programs.
  • Maintains oversite and focused direction of injury prevention, advocacy, education, and outreach efforts impacting trauma care.
  • Leads the gap analysis for the programmatic requirements for ACS accreditation, the planning and preparation for re‑accreditation surveys
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or healthcare related field required.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of clinical experience in a pediatric setting and three (3) years of trauma program leadership experience, to include two (2) years supervisory leadership required for managing, leading teams and initiatives.
  • Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
  • Licensure(s): Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) License
