The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Division of Cardiology, announces a 12-month Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine, beginning January 2026. This full-time academic fellowship is designed for newly graduated Nurse Practitioners (NPs
- Acute Care, Adult/Gero) or Physician Assistants (PAs) who are committed to advancing their training in high-acuity, academic cardiology practice.
The fellowship combines supervised clinical training with structured didactics, procedural exposure, and dedicated mentoring. The selected fellow will gain experience across a range of cardiology subspecialties while developing the core knowledge, clinical reasoning, and team-based skills required for independent advanced practice in cardiology.
Work Hours and Expectations- Full-time, 12-month fellowship
- One (1) fellow selected annually
- Job duties include:
- Clinical rotations (inpatient, outpatient, procedural)
- Educational meetings
- Weekly didactics and conferences
- All activities take place on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and UCH community Campuses (i.e. UCH Highlands Ranch)
- General Cardiology (Inpatient and Outpatient)
- Advanced Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplant
- Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP)
- Interventional Cardiology (Cath Lab)
- Cardiothoracic ICU
- Cardiac Imaging (Echo, CT, Nuclear, MRI)
- Preventive Cardiology and Vascular Medicine
- Comprehensive orientation and bootcamp
- Weekly didactic education sessions and case-based learning
- ECG and imaging interpretation workshops
- Monthly journal clubs and APP-led case presentations
- Participation in multidisciplinary rounds and subspecialty case conferences
- Regular performance evaluations and structured feedback
- Optional scholarly or quality improvement project
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Graduation from an accredited NP (Adult-Gero NP, Acute Care NP) or PA program (must hold degree by January 2026)
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA) required by fellowship start date
- Current BLS/ACLS required by start date
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligible for licensure as an NP or PA in the State of Colorado
- Eligible for prescriptive authority, including DEA
- Less than 1 year of post-graduate cardiology experience preferred

Anticipated Pay RangeThe starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$65,000 to $75,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
