Position Title: Open Rank (Associate Professor to Full Professor)
Location: Hybrid – eligible for on‑site meetings as needed. Primary location:
University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Colorado.
The CAMH Division invites applications for a senior faculty member to lead research related to mental health services, economics, and health policy. The candidate will focus on suicide prevention, integrated care, and cost estimation research. The faculty member will secure federal funding, publish in high‑impact journals, implement research, build partnerships, and mentor trainees and junior faculty.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Director of the Preventing Suicide Initiative / Director of Hospital‑Based Research in establishing national and global centers of excellence for suicide prevention, healthcare quality, and integrated care research.
- Design and conduct innovative programmatic and pragmatic research to enhance understanding, assessment, prevention, and treatment of behavioral health issues in youth, including self‑injury and suicide.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of investigators, trainees, and external collaborators, supported by grant and foundation funding.
- Contribute to development of clinical, educational, and research programs that elevate the Division’s national reputation.
- Build partnerships with campus research cores (e.g., ACCORDS Costing Core, Farley Health Policy Center, Rocky Mountain VA MIRREC Suicide Prevention) and community, clinical, and advocacy stakeholder groups to improve youth and family mental health in Colorado and nationally.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to mentorship and training of students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty.
- Secure and maintain substantial funding (contracts and grants) from federal, state, and private sources.
- Develop scalable strategies and best practices for implementation in clinical and community settings.
- Support faculty recruitment and infrastructure for faculty development.
- PhD or equivalent in economics, health policy, epidemiology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years (Associate Professor) or 15 years (Professor) of research experience in mental health care and suicide prevention in healthcare, community, and/or school settings.
- Experience conducting economic evaluations of healthcare interventions, disease burden analyses, and real‑world implementation studies.
- Experience designing and leading rigorous pragmatic research, including costing, on behavioral health treatment, population health, pediatrics/primary care, and suicide prevention.
- Secure sustained funding from federally funded agencies (DHHS, AHRQ, NIH, CMS, CDC, SAMHSA, HRSA, VA, DOD, ED) or large foundations (PCORI, RWJ, WTG).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑partner collaborations and build cohesive relationships.
- Proven track record of peer‑review publications, professional service, and mentoring.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to education.
- Ethical principles in research with high‑risk populations; experience with IRBs.
- Effective leadership of medium‑to‑large projects (six or more staff).
- Excellent oral and written communication; ability to present complex data clearly.
