Overview
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking compassionate and professional Full-time Residential Counselors to work 40 hours per week. Residential Counselors provide one-on-one support, manage medications, run educational groups, and foster a safe, therapeutic environment for clients with severe and persistent mental illness and addiction issues. Responsibilities include crisis counseling, thorough documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a human services field or a minimum of three years of relevant experience, along with a working knowledge of electronic documentation and professional communication.
Schedule- Thomas House Overnight:
Tuesday - Friday 10:00 pm - 8:30 am - Mrachek House Day:
Sunday - Wednesday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm - Mrachek House Swing:
Wednesday - Saturday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm - Mrachek House Overnight:
Sunday - Wednesday 10:00 pm - 8:30 am
- Salary range: $18.87 - $28.25 per hour (starting wage based on experience and equity)
- Paid bi-weekly
- Shift differential pay as applicable:
Overnight Weekday, Overnight Weekend, Swing Weekday, Swing Weekend, and Day Weekend rates - Bilingual Language Differential Pay: up to $3,000 per calendar year, paid bi-weekly across 26 pay periods

- Observe client behaviors and assess progress or deterioration in targeted problems
- Share observations with residential staff, clinicians, and supervisors
- Assist with implementation of individual treatment plans, including medication monitoring and activities of daily living
- Participate in emergency procedures and crisis intervention as needed
- Maintain milieu management and consistency with clients
- May perform case management services and facilitate psycho educational groups
- Participate in team conferences, client evaluations, and staff in-service training
- Document progress notes accurately and timely
- Follow admissions, discharges, and client care policies
- Report facility maintenance needs to ensure a safe environment
- Assist with menu planning and grocery shopping as needed
- Complete periodic cleaning to maintain the facility
- Transport clients to appointments or activities as necessary
- Residential Relief Counselor duties on a relief/on-call basis
- Collaborate with the care team to coordinate client care
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 months experience in mental healthcare or a relevant population
- Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the human services field - Valid Colorado driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Required QMAP certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire (AMHR provides training)
All employees are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both must be provided on the first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
