Summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a Certified Nurse‑Midwife (CNM) and faculty member for a full‑scope, clinician‑educator role in the CU Center for Midwifery. The applicant will provide comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well‑woman and gynecologic care, while teaching and supporting students and resident physicians. The position is a 1.0 FTE, benefits‑eligible, non‑tenure track appointment within the College of Nursing.

Clinic

Description

The CU Center for Midwifery (CFM) operates a private, holistic model that offers individualized care, alternative labor and birth options, water birth and referral to childbirth education, lactation services and community provider groups. The CNM will work collaboratively with UCHealth and CU clinical partners, participating in practice development and community outreach. The Longmont practice (opened 2017) will actively promote midwifery services and campus initiatives.

Examples

of Work Performed
  • Provide full‑scope care to gynecology, antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum clients
  • Deliver care in outpatient clinics, OB emergency unit, and intrapartum unit
  • Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Attend monthly practice meetings and serve on at least one practice or College of Nursing committee
  • Educate health‑care team students (APNs, medical students, residents) and participate in student evaluations
  • Offer water birth option to low‑risk patients
  • Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach
  • Engage in health‑plan contracts and maintain credentialing materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Instructor: Master’s degree from an accredited nursing or midwifery program;
    Current AMCB certification;
    Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (any state);
    Colorado licensures by hire date (if applying for CO)
  • Senior Instructor: Master’s degree;
    Current AMCB certification;
    Minimum one year full‑scope practice (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well‑woman, gynecology);
    Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (any state);
    Colorado licensures by hire date;
    Demonstrated leadership in practice;
    Experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students
  • Assistant Professor: Doctoral degree;
    Current AMCB certification;
    Minimum two years full‑scope practice;
    Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (any state);
    Colorado licensures by hire date;
    Demonstrated leadership in practice;
    Experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current, active DEA licensure
  • Experience in alternative labor/birth options
  • Experience as Surgical First Assistant for C‑sections
  • Ultrasound training
