Psychiatry - Addiction Research & Treatment Services (ARTS) Adult Outpatient Program.
Job Title:
Medication Dispensing Nurse. Position #: - Requisition #: 36171. This position may be eligible for a one-time sign-on bonus up to $2,000. Details of this one-time sign-on bonus program will be provided during the interview process.
- Assess patients for appropriateness of treatment.
- Assess patients needs for physical exams, and report observations to physicians and/or counselors.
- Administer medications including Methadone, Suboxone, Naltrexone, Antabuse, and extended-release injectable naltrexone to patients.
- Transport narcotic medication in compliance with DEA, state, and federal regulations, following ARTS policies (e.g., using a lock box). Deliveries may occur at correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, inpatient treatment facilities, or other ARTS-approved locations.
- Monitor each patient s vital signs and health condition.
- Draw blood for analysis/labs, obtain results, and administer TB tests.
- Assess adverse reactions to medications and issues related to overdose, HIV, and/or HCV.
- Handle infectious materials, human blood, or other body fluids following policy and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director of MAT and Nurse Programs.
Onsite at ARTS locations; may require work at multiple ARTS sites and on rotating schedules.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of nursing, nursing assistance, dispensing medication, and/or related experience, or education substituting for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid LPN or RN license with the Colorado DORA.
- Prior experience with medication-assisted treatment and with patients in substance use disorder treatment.
- IV certification in good standing.
- Experience observing, monitoring, and intervening in drug/alcohol treatment.
- Experience with patients involved with probation, human services, or other referral sources.
- Experience using an electronic health record system.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong written communication.
- Ability to manage difficult behaviors and engage patients in treatment for substance use disorders.
- Ability to comply with policies, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to develop healthy relationships with clients and establish appropriate boundaries.
- Working knowledge of CLIA and HIPAA; ability to interact effectively with patients and colleagues at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and ability to work under pressure.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver s license or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Pass fingerprint and criminal background checks (Colorado Bureau of Investigation and FBI).
- May be subject to pre-employment or ongoing drug and alcohol testing per ARTS policies.
Screening of applications begins February 21, 2025. Anticipated pay range: $52,808 - $61,680. ADA, background check, vaccination statements apply as part of the process.
