This position will receive a short‑staffing temporary pay differential of 4% from July 1 2025 to June 30 2026.

Colorado Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimons is a beautiful 180‑bed, skilled nursing facility serving Colorado’s veterans. We strive to honor and respect those living in our community through companionship and person‑centered care while providing a comfortable and safe place to live. At Fitzsimons, we provide long‑term care and short‑term rehab and have a secured memory care neighborhood. We are conveniently located on the medical campus with UC Hospital and the Aurora VA Medical Center.

The Client Care Aide IIs provide basic hands‑on patient/resident care in a safe, clean, infection‑controlled environment by bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting programs, feeding programs, transporting, performing basic assessments (vital signs, blood pressures, weights, etc.), and charting/documenting all of the above. This is a fully‑operational position responsible for performing the full range of client aide tasks and problem solving.
These positions detect information or problems by interviewing or investigating. This position must have a Colorado CNA certification and certification must remain in good standing.
- Provide direct resident care including bathing, dressing, undressing, assisting in and out of bed, performing personal hygiene, feeding programs, toileting programs, range of motion, transporting, and interacting socially to meet residents’ basic needs.
- Explain patient care before, during, and after contacts.
- Answer call lights and assess basic resident care needs.
- Update noted resident changes, report information to the charge nurse, and recommend routines and schedules to IDT Team.
- Perform basic resident observations, such as vital signs, blood pressure, weight, intake and output, and basic skin assessments.
- Provide infection control by implementing/using universal precautions and proper disposal of waste.
- Clean linen room and equipment, stock supplies, and complete supply forms.
- Correctly use safety/positioning devices, side rails, transfer belts, and other equipment.
- Attend ongoing staff education programs.
- Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, as well as a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
- High school diploma or GED; or current, valid certification as a CNA will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
- Current, valid licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or any participating state will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.
- Full Background CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers).
- Willing to obtain vaccinations as required by the state and facility.
- Willing to test for Tuberculosis (TB).
- Possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.
