Summary
This Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (ADRT) - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - is assigned to the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMRVAMC) - Imaging Service; MRI Section within the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) in Aurora, Colorado. RMRVAMC is a complex level 1A1 Medical Center providing a full range of state-of-the-art patient care services, including a 182-bed hospital with a 30-bed spinal cord injury and disorders service.

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, in accordance with VA Policy. - English Language Proficiency:
Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). - Certification:
Must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R). - Advanced ARRT certification is required for duties involving computed tomography (CT), MRI, or Mammography (M), performed independently.
- Education:
Completion of a full-time post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program of at least 24 months, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or equivalent. - Experience:
At least one year of relevant experience demonstrating clinical competencies at the next lower grade level. - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrate technical KSAs including patient care, procedure assessment, basic life support, physical assessment, aseptic techniques, and others as specified.
Preferred Experience: General MRI experience in a medical center.
Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, moderate carrying, pushing, reaching, dexterity, prolonged standing, bending, rapid coordination, visual and auditory acuity, and ability to wear protective gear for extended periods.
Duties
- Operate MRI equipment to obtain high-quality images while managing SAR levels.
- Perform MRI procedures on various body parts and vessels, including MR angiography.
- Administer contrast media, process images, maintain records, and manage scheduling and documentation.
- Ensure safety protocols, respond to patient reactions, and participate in after-hours call rotation.
- Prepare sterile trays, maintain supplies, and verify patient and procedure details.
- Adjust equipment, consult with radiologists, and perform minor repairs.
- Participate in quality management and safety reporting.
