Overview

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 depending on experience. The deadline to submit applications is initially set for Monday March 23, 2026. However, the application period is subject to potential extensions or closure at any time without prior notice, especially once a sufficient pool of qualified applicants has been obtained.

Purpose

The Mechanical Design Engineer III is responsible for designing new products that satisfy customer needs and other requirements identified by Product Management in the Product Specifications Document (PSD) following the established New Product Development (NPD) process. The scope includes all activities related to mechanical design and product reliability from initial concept to production release.

Responsibilities
  • Use CAD systems to develop mechanical design of parts, subassemblies and subsystems for new products.
  • Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models of engineering designs.
  • Generate design engineering documentation—including 3D models, engineering drawings, charts, spreadsheets, simulation and testing results reports.
  • Use the PLM system to manage CAD files and new part number set‑up.
  • Work closely with testing engineers to ensure designs comply with safety regulations and performance and durability requirements.
  • Provide input for schedules and workloads related to areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure adherence to timeline, material cost, labor cost, and product requirements established in the PSD.
  • Provide detailed information on how time is utilized (resource planning).
  • Support model makers in the construction of mock‑ups and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Design to meet corporate identity and design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure new designs are manufacturable and comply with Kärcher Production System global standards.
  • Use predictive tools such as FEA, static and dynamic analysis, and CFD.
  • Understand all financial and budgeting metrics involved in the NPD process.
  • Perform assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Conduct and coordinate FMEA for new products under development.
  • Lead NPD projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD design; preferred system is Inventor.
  • Strong knowledge of technical drafting, GD&T, and stack‑up tolerancing analysis.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes for metals and plastics.
  • Understanding of mechanical properties of common materials.
  • Ability to design mechanisms, analyze heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mechanical vibrations, and power transmission.
  • Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and other detailed spreadsheets.
  • Basic knowledge of electric circuits, electronics, and mechatronics.
