As a Journeyman Network Plant Engineer (ISP / OSP), you will plan, install, and sustain inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) network infrastructure. You will support the physical build‑out of mission‑critical communication systems, implementing structured cabling, fiber optics, copper plant, and network connectivity across the Base Area Network (BAN). Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you ensure all cable plant work complies with DoD standards and best practices.

You provide field engineering support for surveys, design reviews, redline documentation, and end‑to‑end system testing across new and legacy environments.

Position location:

Buckley SFB. The role is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Required clearance:
Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier
3) level clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Survey, design, and implement physical fiber and copper cable plants, power connections, conduits, patch panels, and butterfly diagrams.
  • Restore facilities to pre‑install or better conditions.
  • Perform site surveys and document current ISP/OSP configurations.
  • Assist with design and optimize supporting infrastructure, providing input to the SPRIP.
  • Support development of Preliminary and Final SPRIP and project drawings in accordance with USG and industry standards.
  • Perform quality checks and follow industry‑standard, DoD, and DAF specifications and requirements.
  • Install and inspect grounding.
  • Ensure installations are performed within safety standards and site conditions, including restoration of the site to original or better condition.
  • Contribute input to production of project deliverables, artifacts, and metrics when required.
  • Conduct systems pre‑tests and acceptance tests to validate the designed performance criteria.
  • Possess and apply expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
  • Work under supervision of Site Project Manager or Network Plant Engineer SR but capable of independent ISP/OSP tasks.
Material & Equipment Directly Used
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Microsoft Teams or SharePoint.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
Working Environment

Office environment with potential for austere locations.

Physical Activities

Must be able to lift/carry 50 lb.

Qualifications Education / Certifications
  • Technical BA/BS Degree; or
  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
  • Preferred: BICSI certification.
Experience / Skills
  • 5 years with BA/BS Degree; or
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Network Plant Engineer supporting ISP/OSP solutions on large, complex networks with a High School or Associate Degree.
  • Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects.
Clearance Requirement
  • This position requires an active DoD Secret (Tier
    3) level clearance.
Skills & Technology Used
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Microsoft Teams or SharePoint.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
