Regis Jesuit High School is seeking a Dean of Students for the Boys Division to begin in the 2026‑2027 school year. The minimum salary for this position is $80,000 (commensurate with experience) and has a full benefits package, including employer‑paid health, dental and life insurance. The Dean of Students supervises Regis Jesuit students to ensure that an atmosphere of orderliness and proper procedure may prevail throughout all of the school. These procedures must be designed in such a way that the programs and purposes of the school – objectives based on sound philosophy and educational psychology – may be carried out effectively from the standpoint of school administration, teaching, and student welfare.

As such, Office of the Dean should be supportive of all the academic concerns of the school, especially with respect to the order and discipline that is so essential to the proper functioning of the school. Some of the necessary elements for the success of this endeavor are: interoffice communication, updating and accountability to the student handbook, coordination in the areas of student conduct, and recommendations to the Division Heads and Principal with regard to teacher professionalism.

The Dean of Students also serves as a member of the Educational Leadership Council (ELC).

Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities) Student Conduct:
  • Work closely with teachers in terms of discipline so that an atmosphere of learning prevails at all times
  • Support individual teachers’ efforts with regards to discipline
  • Take corrective actions in more serious violations of student conduct
  • Counsel students when discipline problems arise
  • Coordinate student discipline cases involving both male and female students with the Dean of Students in the other division
  • Confer with parents personally, in writing or by phone in an attempt to elicit an attitude and performance change for the betterment of the individual student and for the good of the greater community of Regis Jesuit High School
  • Partner with the Assistant Principal for Student Support and the Counseling department in situations of health and wellness of students.
  • Convene the Disciplinary Review Board when necessary
  • Execute due process in discipline system with the principal and President at the appeals stage in cases of expulsion
  • Report to the Division Head both positive and negative observations and experiences as to the effectiveness of a teacher in carrying out discipline and order
  • Serve as member of the Student Assistance Team (SAT)
  • Collaborate with the Equity Coordinator for student harassment, violence and discrimination cases
  • Track student attendance and work with Division Head to implement and maintain attendance contracts
Student Handbook:
  • Make yearly revisions, modifications and updates to the “Student Discipline” section of the Student Handbook, taking into account the individual school community and the larger community outside of the school
Orderly Structure of School Day:
  • Manage assignments and use of student lockers
  • Schedule prefecting duties for teachers
  • Supervise and evaluate the Assistant to the Dean’s office.
Record Keeping:
  • Maintain student discipline records, including but not limited to:
    • Absences and tardiness (excused, unexcused, excessive, repeated, chronic)
    • Suspensions and serious disciplinary infractions
    • Nuisance behavior patterns
    • JUG slips
    • Communications with parents
Requirements (Education, Experience, Required/Preferred Skills)
  • Practical knowledge of and experience in the application of Ignatian values in daily life
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with adolescents and adults
  • Ability to teach appropriate social skills to adolescents through daily interactions and the discipline process
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and respond to immediate crises
  • Ability to make sound judgments in reaction to complex and subtle situations that arise during the school day
  • Knowledge of relevant school and state policies and skill in analyzing and forming policies
  • Ability to listen others and facilitate resolutions to problems
  • Training in basic first aid and CPR preferred
