Job SummaryProvide instruction and manage a classroom in the regular teacher's absence, following provided lesson plans, managing student behavior, taking attendance, and ensuring a safe learning environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization.

Job Task Descriptions- Instruct students in large, small, and one‑on‑one situations – Daily, 50% of time.
- Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise the behavior and well‑being of students in the classroom and all educational settings, and administer discipline when appropriate – Daily, 25% of time.
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes – Daily, 20% of time.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested – Daily, 5% of time.
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum QualificationsThe minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
- High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
- No professional work experience required
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) substitute authorization or teaching license
- Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Basic classroom management and planning skills
- Basic organizational skills
- Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
- Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
- Ability and desire to work as a team member
- Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity

- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous successful teaching experience
- Experience working in the public sector
- Experience advising school clubs/co‑curricular activities
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
