Instructional Series Faculty Appointment focused in Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP (Open Rank:
Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor).

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, College of Nursing, Office of Faculty and Students. Position #:  - Requisition #36858. Hybrid work location with primary campus at Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO, and potential teaching at Legacy Campus, Lone Tree, CO.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate learning by engaging students in high-level learning activities related to application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of course content.
  • Remain current with best practices in teaching pedagogy and cognitive learning theories.
  • Maintain clinical relevancy regarding guidelines and interventions pertinent to patient care; model professional behavior and clinical decision-making for students.
  • Contribute to a psychologically safe learning environment; foster feedback, collaboration, clearly outline expectations, and cultivate a positive learning climate.
  • Collaborate with teaching teams to improve course content, assignments, clinical experiences, and evaluation methods.
  • Provide a climate of mutual respect and open communication; model patient-centered care.
  • Evaluate student application of knowledge; participate in professional development aligned with role and institutional priorities.
  • Utilize educational technology and simulation tools in skills labs and classrooms for teaching, practice, and assessment of clinical competencies.
  • Promote accountability with clear preparation, engagement, and self-directed study expectations.
  • Contribute to simulation scholarship (publications, editorials, research, blogs, presentations) as appropriate for Instructional Track.
  • Engage in professional service to the CU Nursing community; participate in curricular and program revisions as assigned.
  • Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of course outcomes; support all facets of the learning environment.
  • Prepare learners to meet evolving patient needs and market workforce demands through learner-centered instruction.
  • Foster a culture of lifelong learning, diversity, ethics, and professional development; participate in committees at divisional, college, and university levels.
  • Support inter-professional teaching and scholarship.
  • Didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities; supervise clinical courses via conferences, site visits, and collaboration with preceptors.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications by Rank

Instructor

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing;
    Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Record of teaching effectiveness and scholarship; eligible for unencumbered Colorado nursing license.
  • Current AGACNP certification.

Senior Instructor

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing;
    Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Record of teaching effectiveness and scholarship; eligible for unencumbered Colorado nursing license.
  • Current AGACNP certification.

Assistant Teaching Professor

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing;
    Master’s degree;
    Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or earned doctorate in a relevant field.
  • Record of teaching effectiveness and scholarship; eligible for unencumbered Colorado nursing license.
  • Current AGACNP certification.

Associate Teaching Professor

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing;
    Master’s degree;
    Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or earned doctorate in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship; eligible for unencumbered Colorado nursing license.
  • Current AGACNP certification.

Teaching Professor

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing;
    Master’s degree;
    Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or earned doctorate in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of master teaching, leadership, curriculum development, and scholarly work; eligible for unencumbered Colorado nursing license.
  • Current AGACNP certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–4 years experience as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) designation.
  • Proven success teaching across programs from BSN to DNP.
  • Collaborative teaching and scholarship record.
