Accounts Receivable Specialist (Temporary – 9 months)

Job Summary

Entry level accounting duties within the Office of Grants and Contracts. Works within the Accounts Receivable team, responsible for identifying and applying payments in the People Soft grants module and Finance System. Payment types include Lockbox and Electronic payments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor customer service emails received in the AR shared mailbox.
  • Research and identify incoming funds, log payment information in Excel and apply payments via the AR module in People Soft.
  • Create on‑demand invoices for advance, autopay, and department invoiced awards.
  • Make corrections to resolve imbalances in the Office of Grants and Contracts clearing and monthly account reconciliation.
  • Keep a record/log of incoming payments.
  • Create journal entries to transfer funds identified as non‑sponsored project or belonging to other campuses.
  • Return payments received in error.
  • Work with the Post Award team to process refunds to sponsors.
Work Location

Hybrid – eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in‑person meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or directly related field from an accredited institution. (Substitution: a combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may replace the degree on a year‑for‑year basis.)
  • Accounts receivable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using People Soft Finance and Grants Module in higher education.
  • Experience researching and processing incoming payments.
  • Experience using MS Excel.

Anticipated Pay Range

The hiring range for this position has been established at: $26 to $28 per hour.
