Live-in Treatment Program (Contract & Fulltime Positions)

The Child and Youth Worker, reporting to a Program Coordinator and Program Manager, is an integral part of the Therapeutic Live-in Care (TLC) Program, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a therapeutic environment that addresses the social and emotional needs of latency-aged children. This is a yearly renewable contract, in which the primary focus of this role is to assist children to develop their emotional regulation, self-esteem and social skills, as well as to learn to build meaningful relationships and to modify dysfunctional behaviors.

The Child and Youth Worker in the Milieu environment also works directly with families and community partners to ensure consistent communication and treatment planning.

Other Responsibilities

• The Live-in Treatment program is a 24‑hour program. Staff are expected to work on a rotational schedule that includes evening, weekends, and overnight shifts.
• Household maintenance and duties that include meal planning and preparation, laundry, driving clients to appointments/visits.
• Participating in Treatment Reviews and Meetings in the role of client advocacy.
• Attend Program Team Meetings.
• Co‑development, implementation and tracking of treatment interventions. This includes reporting outcomes of interventions.

Position

Qualifications:

• Child and Youth Worker or a diploma in a related field from a recognized Community College, or a Bachelor of Arts degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Formal Crisis Intervention Training.
• Valid Driver's License and use of a vehicle.
• Ability to speak French or another language is desirable.

• Demonstrate capacity to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as observation and assessment skills.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
• Be familiar with computers for the purposes of data entry, information sourcing and report writing.
