Siegwerk is looking for an Ink Technician to join our team! As an Ink Technician you will perform a broad range of technical tasks pertaining to daily ink room management. This role ensures that the correct inks are available for each job, are mixed to the required specifications, and meet established quality standards. The Ink Technician plays a critical role in maintaining efficient production and achieving high‑quality print results.

Job Responsibilities Ink Preparation and Mixing
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix inks according to job specifications, formulas, and color standards (e.g., Pantone).
  • Prepare press‑ready inks, including adjusting viscosity, pH, and other properties as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of ink mixing, usage, and inventory.
Ink Inventory Management
  • Monitor ink levels and notify the manager when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming ink shipments.
  • Organize and maintain the ink storage area to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Return inks from press to the appropriate area.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Communicate effectively with press operators, supervisors, and other team members regarding ink‑related matters.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to press operators on ink usage and troubleshooting.
  • Perform press‑side color matching.
Equipment Maintenance and Cleaning
  • Clean and maintain ink mixing equipment, pumps, and containers.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on ink‑related equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions.
Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines when handling inks and chemicals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in safety training.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience working with printing inks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of color theory and ink mixing principles.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret formulas and job specifications.
  • Proficiency in using weighing and measuring equipment.
  • Knowledge of ink testing methods and equipment (e.g., viscometer, pH meter, spectrophotometer).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures for handling chemicals.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move heavy containers of ink.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Exposure to inks and solvents (with proper safety precautions).
