The position is responsible for transporting Pre‑K‑12 students to and from school and school‑related activities on a daily basis in accordance with Title 20A, Chapter 215 transportation of elementary and secondary students.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKSThis position is responsible for safely operating and driving a school bus to transport students to and from school and school‑related activities, while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. The role includes maintaining student discipline and enforcing bus rules, inspecting and cleaning the bus regularly to ensure it remains in safe operating condition, and reporting any violations, accidents, or maintenance needs to the appropriate authorities.
Additionally, this position ensures students are picked up and dropped off at authorized stops in compliance with school policies and safety standards.
- Knowledge of Maine Motor Vehicle laws.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to school buses and drivers.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline on the bus.
- Ability to communicate and work in a positive manner with staff and pupils.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and adjustments to bus.
- Ability to lift independently objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
High school diploma or equivalent, 21 years of age, and no criminal or driving violations.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSMaine Class B Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with passenger and school bus endorsement.
