Oversees and trains employees on equipment and policies, to ensure the accomplishment of transportation infrastructure maintenance within the Maine Department of Transportation. This includes, but is not limited to training of employees, training on all required equipment to keep employees' skills and individuals' skills current and up to standards, training of non-CDL employees via the ELDT program, inspects, records/tracks work and employees training on equipment, ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, policies, contracts, and agreements;
confers with superiors; makes recommendations for improvements to the driver trainer program. Also includes assisting with hurdle test, WISE college and NEWIS programs.
A four (4) year combination of training, experience, and education in highway, bridge, and equipment repair and maintenance and/or construction including at least one (1) year of lead worker experience.
NecessarySpecial Requirements :
(This must be successfully completed by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class). Must be able to successfully complete Driver Trainer Instructor Certification. Must be available during storms and other emergencies as a substitute driver/operator, which may require working temporarily at any point within the state. Must occasionally travel out of state to pick up equipment. Completion of the 30 hour OSHA Safety course in construction (20 CFR Part 1926).
Must have a Class A CDL for a minimum of 2 years (49 CFR Part 380).
