The Programmer is responsible for the analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, and production deployment of application code owned by the application team. This role supports maintenance, enhancements, and new development
, including production support.
The Programmer collaborates with the Functional Architect, Team Lead, and Technical Architecture Specialist to ensure designs and code meet customer and business requirements. Responsibilities may also include scheduling and monitoring nightly jobs
, along with recovery when failures occur.
- Develop enhancements and fixes for production issues following functional and technical programming standards
- Test all development and enhancement programs
- Participate in structured code reviews and walkthroughs
- Execute all required development and delivery process steps
- Create and maintain operational documentation for the Team Lead
- Use configuration management, design, debugging, and source-code management tools
- Research and troubleshoot issues before escalating to Team Lead or Functional Architect
- Follow established quality standards
- Support application release installation into production
- Provide clear and accurate status updates
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Analyze, design, and implement enhancements or production fixes
- Design applications aligned with functional and technical standards
- Conduct structured walkthroughs and peer reviews
- Estimate effort, timelines, and schedules for assigned work
- Assist with application team process management
- Coordinate development work with other software developers
- Support Team Lead or Test Lead by tracking ETC (Estimated Time to Complete) vs. actuals
- Develop application designs supporting system specifications and interfaces
- Perform performance tuning and diagnostics at the operating system level
- Collaborate with users to ensure solutions meet business requirements
- Work with minimal supervision
- Stay current with industry trends and apply them when appropriate
- Proactively identify, track, and resolve risks and issues
- Manage work schedules and deliverables independently
- Review and follow the application team work plan
- Provide regular work status updates to the Team Lead
- Develop contingency plans when risks arise
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives
- Strong functional and process knowledge
- Advanced modeling, design, and coding skills
- Expertise in one or more database environments #ZR #
