Riverview Psychiatric Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Psychologist to provide psychological assessment, psychotherapy, clinical leadership, and professional guidance within a hospital setting. The  will demonstrate expertise in evaluating and treating patients with mental health and developmental disorders, while also supporting and supervising psychological staff, students, and interns. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary care.

Work is performed under administrative direction and may involve supervision of all psychological services within the institution.

Primary Responsibilities

The psychologist will be responsible for conducting or overseeing psychological assessments and psychotherapy interventions aimed at reducing maladaptive behaviors and improving mental wellness in patients. Responsibilities also include evaluating and diagnosing psychological conditions, writing comprehensive psychological reports, and collaborating with other professionals—including social workers, nurses, direct care staff, and educators—to interpret and communicate assessment results forgiving. The psychologist will coordinate and manage psychological services across the facility, provide clinical supervision, participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and contribute to policy development and program evaluation.

Public outreach and education, expert court testimony, and consultation with institutional leadership are also expected as part of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

A Doctorate Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.

D.) in Psychology and a minimum of 2 years of experience, one year of which may have been an internship.

Licensing Requirements

Licensed (or license eligible) as a Psychologist as issued by the Maine State Board of Examiners in Psychology.
