The Office of Maine Care Services (OMS) has primary responsibility for administering Medicaid program throughout the state of Maine. These responsibilities include development of coverage policy, provider and member support, provider reimbursement, quality assurance, and pharmacy benefits. Maine Care provides reimbursement for more than 400,000 members for a wide variety of medical, behavioral health, and medically-related social services.

OMS is seeking students to join the Future Leaders program! This internship program offers a flexible, part‑time work experience located in Augusta both on‑site and in hybrid capacity. The Future Leaders program will provide applicants with a professional, hands‑on leadership experience relative to their program of study. Assigned work is project based and self‑lead; students will be expected to exemplify strong critical thinking and time‑management skills.

Each position will be tailored to promising candidates and will comprise of meaningful work, resulting in a real impact throughout the State. The program also affords students the opportunity to work with other program peers on a meaningful group project that will be presented to senior leadership at the end of the term. This program runs during Spring, Summer and Fall semesters with students working either part or full‑time.

Compensation is based on student’s level of education.

Justice Initiatives County Profiles Coordinator

This role provides key compilation of geographic profiles for each carceral facility, mapping existing relationships with Maine state and county carceral facilities, including the required services included in the CAA juvenile justice requirements. The coordinator will employ key subject matter experts, existing data and reports, etc., to create a landscape by county of existing carceral Medicaid services and providers and potential new Medicaid services and providers, as well as potential efficiencies in regions and inventories of existing service relationships.

Basic administrative and service system knowledge, experience gathering data points and compiling into categories to drive planning. Basic competency in MS Office tools including Word and Excel.

• Assess existing drafted carceral geographic profiles and supporting data
  Identify key gaps and synergies across county regions
• Draft visually engaging county profiles (1-2 pages) to prompt planning and explorations of how each region will meet the requirements under CAA and 1115 re‑entry waivers
• Work with OMS Medical Director, Initiative Champion and Justice Team to develop planning tools incorporating the County Profiles into collaborative planning sessions with each carceral facility (e.g., PowerPoint presentation, talking points, etc.).
• Enrolled in an accredited college degree program – minimum 30 credits completed
• Demonstrates leadership abilities
