Position: High School, MO Options Teacher

Overview

Savannah R-III School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Missouri Option (MO Option) Teacher to join our instructional team. The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based and competency-based instruction to support students enrolled in the Missouri Option Program—an alternative high school graduation pathway for eligible, credit-deficient students. This position focuses on individualized academic support, relationship-building, and college/career readiness in a positive, student-centered learning environment.

This position is for the 2026-27.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Instruction & Academic Support

  • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with district curriculum and the requirements of the Missouri Option Program.
  • Support students in mastering academic competencies that align to program expectations and preparing them for the HiSET® exam as appropriate.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, especially those with interrupted or irregular education histories.

Program Implementation & Compliance

  • Implement the Missouri Option Program following DESE guidelines and annual assurance standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, competency mastery, and instructional interventions.
  • Ensure completion of all documentation needed for DESE reporting and program compliance.

Student Support & Engagement

  • Build positive, respectful relationships to promote student engagement, confidence, and persistence.
  • Provide guidance on career readiness, post-secondary goals, and employability skills.
  • Communicate regularly with students about progress, expectations, and next steps.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and support staff to meet individual student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with families and community partners when appropriate.

Other Duties

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive instructional environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Qualifications

Required

  • Valid Missouri teaching certificate at the secondary level (or Adult Education & Literacy certificate).

Preferred

  • Experience with alternative education programming, competency-based instruction, or high school equivalency preparation.
  • Experience working with at-risk or nontraditional learners.
