Senior Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join a respected non-profit organization based in Augusta, Maine. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise and the ability to manage a wide range of financial tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting processes, including month-end close procedures.

- Prepare and reconcile complex account balances to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Develop and monitor annual budgets, providing insights to support financial decision-making.

- Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables, to analyze and present financial data.

- Ensure compliance with organizational accounting standards and relevant regulations.

- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance financial reporting and operational workflows.

- Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.

- Maintain updated knowledge of accounting practices within non-profit, medical, education, or government sectors.

- Assist in implementing and maintaining financial systems to improve efficiency.

- Provide mentorship and guidance to entry level accounting staff as needed. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience in full-cycle general ledger accounting and month-end close.

- Proven ability to perform account reconciliations and develop budgets.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

- Familiarity with accounting practices in non-profit, medical, education, or government industries is preferred.

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote tasks.
