Job SummaryThe Transmission Lineman A assists the Journeyman Lineman and the Foreman. This role supports and learns from the Lineman team while performing work related to the construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the Transmission team. The position works closely with other personnel from the department.
Responsibilities- Transmission structure replacements, wire pulling, new line builds.
- Perform construction, maintenance, or repair work of Transmission lines.
- Install and maintain wood poles and steel towers of all heights, including setting, framing, and installing hardware and other related materials.
- Operate and maintain vehicles and specialized equipment used in the electric utility industry.
- Safely identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit and have familiarity with induced voltage.
- Knowledge of grounding, dead-ends, and proper sagging of wire.
- Proficient in climbing different types of structures (wood, steel, poles, towers, etc.).
- Availability to work 50+ hours per week.
- Up to 100% travel required.
- Valid and current state driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel with crews in Georgia and Florida.
- Ability to work 7 days per week.
- Valid and current Class A CDL.
- Leadership training.
- Completion of Lineman School.
- Completion of Apprenticeship Program.
This job operates in a field environment and routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (including lifting in awkward positions), standing, and twisting. Work may be performed in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The employee must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, maintain clear vision at 20 feet or more, and possess precise hand‑eye coordination, ability to judge distance and space relationships, and color discrimination.
