The Transmission Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating all necessary machines required to assist transmission work for customers. This position supports the team and works with personnel within the department.

• Operate jobsite equipment safely, including mobile cranes, bulldozers, angle dozers, front‑end loaders, backhoes, excavators, track hoes, trenchers, digger‑derricks, and other construction equipment.
• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de‑energized tasks.
• Perform service, safety checks, and minor repairs on machines, checking oil and fluids.
• Inspect work area to ensure it has been staked/located prior to digging.
• Assist maintenance crew or labor when not operating equipment.
• Dig around all live utilities, both underground and overhead.
• Train, guide, or oversee the work of lower‑graded operators and laborers when needed.
• Comply with proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to Mas Tec or the customer, whichever standard is higher.
• Load trucks safely and accident‑free.
• Work to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and cooperate to provide quality, timely customer service.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• CDL Class A driver’s license.
• Current and valid crane certification.

This job operates in a field environment. It routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Work may be performed in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The position is physically active, with lifting required; must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand‑eye coordination, and ability to distinguish colors.
