College/Department InformationThe Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CBGM) at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) promotes interdisciplinary research in biotechnology and genomic medicine, including biomarker discovery and pharmacomics. CBGM hosts internationally renowned diabetes research programs and supports research in autoimmune diseases, transplantation, and cancer with significant extramural funding.
Job SummaryA training position designed to carry out advanced independent research, meeting project objectives, adhering to established methodologies, and publishing findings in scientific journals.
Responsibilities- Plan and develop research protocols, ensuring adherence to scientific principles and federal guidelines.
- Perform experimental studies, including animal behavior, cell biology, molecular biology, animal surgery, microinjection, behavioral testing, genotyping, western blot, real‑time PCR, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and imaging.
- Analyze experimental results using manual or computer techniques and, when necessary, develop specialized software for analysis.
- Conduct literature reviews, summarize findings, and develop derivative applications of techniques.
- Present findings at local, national, and international scientific meetings.
- Compose scientific manuscripts for publication and review articles prepared by collaborators.
- Supervise students, graduate assistants, and research personnel; provide mentorship and guidance to principal investigators and postdocs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (may require work outside normal hours).
- Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established salary range.
