The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the immune system to combat disease. The IMMCG will assemble teams of biomedical researchers and pursue projects across cardiovascular disease, obesity/metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer. The center aims to recruit faculty and staff to lead these projects and collaborate with national and international partners.

Aherrahrou's lab, located at the Immunology Center of Georgia, applies in-silico as well as in-vitro and in-vivo methods to unravel the genetics of cardiovascular diseases. The team works with large datasets and participates in national and international collaborations such as CARDIoGRAMplus
C4D and Leducq, including data and sample exchange.
- Interest in or command of bioinformatics or computational biology.
- Apply GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, single-cell RNA and ATAC-seq, and single-cell CRISPR screening techniques.
- Study the genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases.
- Collaborate with computational and wet-lab biologists to elucidate mechanisms.
- Prepare written and oral presentations of results for the team and the public.
- Supervise staff and students.
- Maintain and organize large datasets and summary statistics.
- Required: Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred: Ph.D. in computational biology (bioinformatics, genomics, etc.).
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications within the established range (minimum to midpoint).
Funding:
This position is funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
