Base rate: $48.07 per hour / $100,000 per year

Paid days off: 41 days per year

Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to deliver high‑quality health services to justice‑involved youth in 25 facilities across the state.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: reporting to the Lead Nurse and following the Physician’s clinical direction, providing basic medical services using professional medical skills to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus; evaluating and treating the general medical and health needs of youth; and monitoring CQI programs as they relate to patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia.
  • 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably 1 year in a correctional setting.
  • Strong organizational, decision‑making, and interpersonal skills, with good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure and relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co‑workers.
  • Compliant with the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act (Nurse Practitioners) and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules (Physician Assistants).
  • Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification obtained through the American Heart or Red Cross Program.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and performing normal bending, reaching, stooping, standing, and sitting for long periods; able to move quickly in emergencies (within 4 minutes); maintain normal hearing and vision, with or without corrective appliances, and must perform BCLS as needed.
  • Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
