Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-acuity, Stroke and STEMI Certified facility, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active GA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Large, high-acuity general Emergency Department (non-trauma) that is Stroke and STEMI Certified
- 59-bed ED averaging 165–175 patients per day
- Patient population spans adolescents through geriatrics
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Uses Epic (required) and Pyxis
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating is rare but may occur within the facility and within scope of practice
- Local candidates are accepted
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Scrub color:
Navy Blue - RTO maximum of 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates:
Spring Break (April 4–12) - Holiday coverage policy:
If 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler must be available for 2 of them with one holiday RTO request eligible for review — Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day - No alternate shifts or special scheduling requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
- Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time to avoid a 2-week start date delay due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Candidates undergo a clinical screening review prior to manager consideration
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
