Full/Part Time: Part Time

Regular/Temporary Full Time - 24 hours per week

Base rate $48.07 per hour

Paid time off 21 paid days off per year

Organization and Department

Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to deliver high-quality health services to Georgia’s justice-involved youth in 25 facilities. Our mission is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment, supervision, and support to strengthen the well-being of youth and families and foster safe communities.

Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and potential for wellness.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse and the clinical direction of the Physician, provide basic medical services using professional medical skills to meet a variety of healthcare needs, with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Assess and treat the general medical and health needs of youth. Monitor CQI programs as they relate to patient care.

Required Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia.
  • 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting; 1 year in a correctional setting preferred.
  • Good organizational and decision-making skills; good physical and mental health; ability to work under pressure; relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act (Nurse Practitioners) and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules (Physician Assistants).
  • Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification, obtained through American Heart or Red Cross.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs; normal bending, reaching, stooping; able to stand/sit for long periods; able to move quickly in emergencies (within 4 minutes); normal hearing/vision with or without corrective devices; able to perform BCLS.
  • Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
