Our mission in the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities. Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and potential for wellness.
ResponsibilitiesDuties to include but are not limited to:
Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse and the clinical direction of the Physician, provide basic medical services by utilizing professional medical skills to meet a variety of healthcare needs, with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Must be able to evaluate and treat the general medical and health needs of youth. Monitor Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs as they relate to patient care.
Required Qualifications- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia.
- 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting. Prefer 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.
- Good organizational and decision-making skills; good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; must relate well to patients, security staff, visitors and co-workers.
- Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act (Nurse Practitioners) and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules (Physician Assistants).
- Must have current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification, obtained through American Heart or Red Cross Program.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Normal bending, reaching, stooping. Standing and sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to move quickly in cases of emergency (within 4 minutes). Normal levels of hearing and seeing, if necessary, with corrective appliances. Must be able to perform BCLS.
- Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
