Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with a GA or compact license and at least one year of experience for an adult-geriatrics unit utilizing Epic.
Responsibilities
• Position is on a Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with common diagnoses such as diabetes, post-op, wound care, and bariatric cases
• Remote telemetry monitoring is required on the unit
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 on a 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 28
• Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and SBAR communication tools
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:00)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating may be required within the facility and scope of practice
• No call requirements
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No blocked scheduling allowed
• Travel pairs cannot be assigned the same shift on the same unit
• Must be available to submit core items and complete labs within 48 hours of signing contract
• Holiday work required: must be available for assigned major holidays, with limited RTO for holidays according to policy
• Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed, but not during the first week of assignment
• Mandatory completion of orientation modules, with non-billable hours included in assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Full compliance required prior to start; non-compliance will delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
Requirements
• Active GA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of one year recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must provide two supervisory references from a manager or above
• Must have been separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year to be eligible as a traveler
