This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program award amounts and eligibility periods are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

• English Language Proficiency – proficiency in basic written and spoken English is required for direct patient care positions.
• Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or eligible graduate of a master’s level bridge program who has completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor’s level degree in Nursing.
• State licensure in the U.S. (full, active, and unrestricted registration) or acceptable foreign registration validated by a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA.
• Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception for candidates lacking licensure – temporary appointment while pursuing licensure.
• Grade and level determinations based on scope, education, and dimensional criteria detailed for each level (Nurse I, II, III).
  
  Preferred experience:
  
  BSN/MSN and experience as Assistant Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
• Physical requirements:
  
  pre-employment physical examination; moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching, use of fingers, hands, legs, walking and standing up to 8 hours.

• Works with close supervision, responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice.
• Manages workload, organizes and completes assignments efficiently.
• Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of interdisciplinary care.
• Safeguards patient privacy and maintains confidentiality per HIPAA and VA guidelines.
• Initiates/participates in consultations to healthcare teams regarding ethical issues.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own nursing judgments and actions.

• The position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands, and legs, walking and standing up to 8 hours, bending, climbing, and hearing in a whisper.
• The incumbent must be physically, emotionally, and mentally stable to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to self or others.
