- Direct Dialysis Patient Care: Monitor patients before, during, and after hemodialysis treatments.
- Assess vital signs, manage the dialysis machine, administer medications (e.g., heparin, saline), and evaluate the patient's response to therapy, applying independent clinical judgment.
- Care Coordination & Planning: Collaborate with nephrologists and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Prioritize and coordinate daily patient flow within the dialysis unit to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
- Patient Education & Advocacy: Serve as a primary educational resource for patients and families on kidney disease, dialysis treatment, vascular access care, diet, and fluid management.
- Advocate for patient needs and ensure a patient- and family-centered care approach.
- Technical Proficiency & Safety: Operate and troubleshoot hemodialysis machines and water treatment systems.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and safety policies to prevent complications and ensure a safe treatment environment.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatments, patient responses, and any incidents.
- Deliver care in compliance with all regulatory standards and unit policies.

Skills:
Registered Nurse (RN), Dialysis, Nephrology, Hemodialysis, BLS - Licensure: Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license or Multi-State Compact RN license.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) required upon hire.
Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) is a significant plus. - Experience: Experience in Dialysis, Nephrology, or Critical Care is highly preferred. New graduates with a strong interest in nephrology and relevant clinical rotations may be considered.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Technical aptitude for operating medical equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education abilities.
- Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and respond calmly to emergencies.
