Instrumentation Technician – 4 plus years Journeyman experience;
Plant Maintenance experience preferred. Heavy on instrument.
- Test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul and repair controlling, indicating and measuring instrument devices to ensure specified operating performance using hand tools, testing and calibrating instruments and equipment and precision measuring instruments.
- Read and understand manuals, blueprint schematics and testing specifications. Knowledge of electrical schematics and PLCs.
- Read blueprints and other schematic drawings; calibrate, install and/or remove instrumentation devices.
- Cut, bend and install tubing for proper installation of instrumentation devices.
- Read quality control manuals and testing specifications to obtain data needed to test or calibrate devices.
- Set controls to regulate factors such as current flow, timing, pressure, vacuum or temperature according to specifications.
- Disassemble instrument or device to determine cause of defective operation or failure when needed.
- Reject malfunctioning devices and route to specified departments for repair or salvage of survivable parts.
- Layout, fabricate and install tubing and tubing trays; apply knowledge of mathematics to instrumentation (ratios, conversions, algebra, unit conversions).
- Read loops drawings and prepare job reports; assemble and disassemble electronic process controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components.
- Calibrate equipment using standard procedures; read and apply related procedures as needed.
- Understand pH and redox principles; measure and control pH and redox of liquids.
- Understand steam and its behavior; apply principles of chemistry and physics in instrumentation (e.g., specific gravity, density, melting/boiling points).
- Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems with proper test equipment; understand fundamental instrumentation loops and component functions within loops.
- Understand common chemical plant process equipment (distillation columns, heat exchangers, boilers, turbines, compressors).
- Apply procedures for measuring pressure, level, flow, temperature, weight, density, heat flux, humidity and moisture.
- Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet state regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma
Experience: Maintenance - Instrumentation Technician, 4 plus years Journeyman experience;
Plant Maintenance experience preferred. Heavy on instrument.
