PositionThis is a temporary job working 7/12's. Pay Rate: $17.78/hr no Per Diem.
General Laborer/FirewatchThe General Laborer/Firewatch will perform various labor-intensive tasks in an industrial setting under the direction of a supervisor or foreman. May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. May assist other craft workers. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities- Monitor construction sites for potential fire hazards.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and protocols.
- Act as the first line of defense in case of fire emergencies.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding safety practices.
- Conduct regular inspections of fire safety equipment and procedures.
- Previous experience in a safety-related position is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential hazards.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively relay information to team members.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment, including rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education – no minimum education requirements.
Experience – 6+ months experience in an Industrial setting preferred but not required.
Must pass drug screen, physical, and background check, as a condition of employment. No beards allowed for this position.
