Environmental, Safety and Health Compliance Officer - TS SCI with ability to obtain Full Scope Poly
Location: Augusta, GA. Position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities- Advising on safety requirements.
- Designing protective equipment and/or safety devices.
- Redesigning controls to eliminate occupational hazards.
- Developing standards which set tolerances, stress ratios, strength of materials and other related engineering requirements.
- Reviewing proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices, recommending technical changes as needed.
- Conduct safety inspections of work areas, observe work in progress for safety compliance, and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies and standards.
- Conduct regularly scheduled safety training awareness sessions pertinent to the tasks being performed.
- Develop lessons plans, scenarios and exercises to train managers, supervisors and employees in ESH principles.
- Promote a safety culture built on listening to employees and having transparent communications with our customer.
- Meet with department managers to determine whether the area is in compliance.
- Assist in the hiring of supervisors and employees to include job fairs, interviewing candidates and supporting the Akima hiring process.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in environmental and safety and health management on a US federal government service contract.
- Five (5) years of experience working in the Intelligence Community of the Department of Energy supporting facilities operations and maintenance.
- Strong personal leadership, management, and organization skills as well as the ability to integrate and harmonize diversified functions to provide overall efficient and effective contract operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exemplary attention to detail.
- Maintains sensitivity to, and reports on, instances of fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Proficient at the suite of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint).
- Must be able to make presentations to employees at all levels and write cohesive and comprehensive documentation.
- Must have active Top Secret with SCI and ability to obtain full scope poly.
