Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Augusta, GA is looking to hire an associate attorney to join their civil litigation practice. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for growth in both state and federal courts, working on a wide range of litigation matters. The role involves providing high-quality legal support across various litigation tasks including legal research, drafting, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to handle diverse litigation-related matters.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and assist in drafting legal documents.
  • Participate in discovery processes, preparation for hearings, and trial strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, keeping them informed about the status of cases.
  • Draft memoranda, legal correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Support business development and contribute to marketing initiatives for the firm.
  • Provide legal assistance across a broad spectrum of litigation practice areas.

Requirements:

  • Barred in Georgia or South Carolina (preferred).
  • 0-5 years of prior legal experience, with preference for candidates with professional, tax, business, or writing backgrounds.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with an independent and creative problem-solving approach.
  • Ethical, responsible, and highly motivated with a passion for litigation.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in the state of Georgia or South Carolina (or eligibility for admission).

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing proficiency.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Effective communication with clients, peers, and opposing counsel.
  • Strong legal drafting capabilities, including pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
