College/Department Information The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses across the state, and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG and its teaching hospitals provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 programs.

Job Summary The Research Associate performs advanced administrative and technical work in support of ongoing research projects, including day-to-day lab operations, mouse handling, genotyping and colony maintenance, qRT-PCR and western blotting, and tissue collection.

• Collection:
  Cell culture and mouse tissue collection.
• Assays:
  Molecular biology assays of cultured cells and tissue;
  Western blot, qRTPCR.
• Tissue:
  Tissue collection and histology.
• Data:
  Data analysis and recordkeeping.
• Other Duties:
  Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory or clinical trial research.
• OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.

Knowledge of cell culture, mouse tissue collection and molecular and cellular techniques. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software/databases; excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented with strong organization and prioritization; ability to maintain confidentiality; willingness and ability to work with research animals; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.

Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday (work outside normal hours may be required).

Salary Minimum: $45,400

Pay Band: B8
