Responsibilities
  • The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using imaging technology.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for procedures.
  • Operate fluoroscopy and other imaging modalities to guide procedures.
  • Scrub in for sterile procedures, pass instruments, and maintain a sterile field.
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details.
  • Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Ensure radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment; ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Manage procedural supplies, including catheters, guide wires, and contrast agents.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols.
  • Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations.
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist.
  • Valid ARRT, or RCIS/RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC).
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations.
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification.
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position.

The IR Technologist assists physicians in minimally invasive procedures, preparing patients and equipment, operating imaging modalities, and supporting a fast-paced environment to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

  • Technical/motor skills for assisting with procedures and using department equipment.
  • Ability to cope with dynamic environments, deadlines, and irregular schedules; attention to detail.
